An Unexpected End of the World - A Story about our Last Chance to Save the Planet

Image courtesy -UN Water

United Nations had called out to all the leaders of the World for what they called as the "Biggest Emergency ever". But still the huge meeting hall was almost empty with only a few leaders present, hesitating to take seats. "Should we begin? said one of the people sitting in the main row of the semi-circular hall. "Shouldn't we wait for all of them? It's a global problem" said one of the leaders. "No one else is coming, everyone's busy in  their own country, if you're going to start it, you must begin now." said another.

Then the discussion began with different voices and opinions coming from different directions.
"What are the options? We can't produce water and food and then distribute among them, so they can led down their arsenals."

"We can deal with them later. First we must do something to stop our people from stealing, rioting, protesting, fighting and killing each other. The Police isn't doing its job, doctors and nurses aren't in hospital and fire brigades are burning buildings. It's because they all are busy stealing food, the Government's organization is out of control.  Most of the food has been stolen.  It's a total chaos! The World is on its knees."

The Most Beautiful Girl in the World - A Search for the Real Beauty

Image Courtesy- Paulo Coelho, "The Zahir"

The boy was a computer scientist and a programmer in the World's largest Internet search engine company. He originally belonged to Europe but had moved to California, with his mother who was his only family member, soon after he got this job.
His mother, like all mothers, often nagged him about getting married. He put off the question by saying "I'll only marry the Most Beautiful Girl in the World, when I'll find her, I'll marry her." After listening this his mother became silent.
A few more years passed now the boy was around 27. All his colleagues in his office were married and so were his childhood friends and the handful of relatives he had. He felt very alone and thought that his life lacks happiness due to so much solitude, so he decided to begin his "Search" for the Most Beautiful girl in the World.

There was an another Internet company which was a Social Networking site. Almost all of the people of the World used it. The boy also wanted to have someone who was active on Internet so as to understand his work. He decided to begin his Search with this social network.

He hacked and accessed the Social Networking website's database servers and began his Search.  He began with all the women and girls in the World which was almost 3.5 billion. He obviously couldn't marry this many people so he began to narrow down the whole number.

"The girl I'll marry shouldn't be older than me and shouldn't be a teenager", he thought. He entered an age limit and now he had 900 million girls that matched the age limits.

"The girl I'll marry should  know English else how will I ever talk with her?" he thought. Now he selected all the girls that spoke English either as native or secondary language. The number was now 600 million.

"I think I'll marry a white girl" he thought and the number was 350 million.

He saw girls who have been just to high school, he decided that his ideal girl should at least have gone to college and have a degree. He set it up and the number was 320 million.

In the total number of girls, he saw many girls who were interested in things he didn't liked at all. He narrowed down the search by at least two similar interests and the number was 175 million.

"Her eyes should be either blue or green", he thought. But the problem was there was no data for eye color. He used his programming skills and designed a program which would scan profile pictures of the girl and would try to detect the eye color. He did this using face recognition technologies found in cameras. The number was now just 7 million.

He used the same software to eliminate those girls who colored their hair with strange- unnatural colors. "I love the natural color", he thought. The number was down to 4 million.

He had no idea on how to go on further. How to choose "The One" among 4 million girls. So he went back to his job. There he heard a girl who according to him sounded like a cat and he thought that for the most beautiful girl, the voice should also be considered. But again there was no data for voice and he didn't know which voice he liked. He spent his days listening to his favorite female singers analyzing and making up his mind for the voices he liked. Then he looked up the frequency range and created another software, which analyzed all the videos or audios ever uploaded by the people he was searching or they were either tagged in or were there in the video. Now the number was 90 thousand.

He searched random things like girls with no criminal background, politic beliefs, their thinking about religion, activities and if they can cook food or not. The number was still 20 thousand.

"Let's come to ultimate beauty now", he thought. He analyzed the faces of all the actresses he liked or the ideal image he had for the most beautiful girl. He decided how the nose should look, how cheeks should be aligned, what should be the ratio of forehead to rest of the face, how should be the chin. He used vector diagram techniques and kept on analyzing and adding more specifications. He came down to a final number of 17.

There were three girls in each continent, with two in Australia.
Now he didn't know how to find the most beautiful one out of the 17. He decided that he needs to become friends with all of them to know what the website could never tell.

He send friend requests, chatted with them, came to know more about them. Learnt what they like, how they think and so on. Finally he made up his mind just for one girl.

They began to talk online, then texting, then on phone and then through video chat and then not a single day or night went by when they both didn't talk.He told her that he loves her and she said she feels the same for him. He decided he'll propose her for marriage but then made his mind not to tell her. "I'll surprise her", he thought. He packed his bags and bought an air ticket to Brazil. After he reached in Rio, he knew where she would be, because he had talked about her routine.

He bought a bouquet of her favorite flowers and a pack of her favorite chocolates. He could see her across the road he was so mesmerized by her beauty that he began to cross the road. She looked like an Angel fallen to the Earth. He was happy that the search was finally over. Suddenly he hit a strange woman while walking. She looked very different and the boy thought "ugly". She didn't had eyebrows and her head was covered with a scarf. "She has lost her hair", he thought.

Leaving the strange woman, he again walked toward the most beautiful girl. She saw him and waved towards him, the boy was elated. He was a bit tense and was a little scared. "The moment when he'll ask her to become the partner of his life was near. She was still smiling and looking at him and she looked surprised.

It was a busy road and he was crossing it almost blindly. He didn't heard the horn, he didn't saw the bus coming; but he felt the jerk of the bus and how he was thrown into the air. The pain was unbearable. He was lying on the ground, bleeding. He was still looking at her, the "Most Beautiful Girl" he found and she also saw the accident. But suddenly a red Ferrari stopped in front of her and after the pause of a moment, she jumped in. The car moved away. The boy saw it and then closed his eyes.

After a week.....
The boy woke up in a Hospital. He gained conscious after a week. He only remembered how the most beautiful girl was the darkest girl from the inside, who didn't even looked at him when he almost died in the accident. He was now beginning to believe that he wasted all of his time in search for the Most Beautiful Girl in the World, who doesn't even exist.

He now opened his eyes and looked at his side. A woman was sitting there. She was wearing a loose scarf and she didn't had any eyebrows or eyelashes and looked very pale and thin. The boy remembered her, she was the same woman he hit while reaching to the so thought "Most Beautiful Girl".

Suddenly the doctor appeared and congratulated him for getting out of comma. The doctor told him to be thankful to the woman sitting here who donated her blood. He explained, "Miss Emma's blood group is O negative which can be given to anyone, so she's a universal donor. She recently recovered from Cancer and had her Chemotherapy, so we had to perform a few tests to make sure if blood donation was possible. No blood that matched your blood group was immediately available at the Hospital, it was immediately needed else you'd have died. But after the tests we found that she could donate you her blood. She is free from cancer now. And yes, she also brought you here driving in her car and broke a few traffic laws by hitting a few cars, she's still learning how to drive." The doctor smiled and so did Emma.

The boy felt a big relief in his heart. The search for The Most Beautiful Girl in the World was finally over. She was sitting next to him and was smiling.

He learnt what real beauty actually is and was thankful to have found it.

You're Missed- A Tribute to people who lost their lives in Japan Earthquake and Tsunami last year

"It was dark, it was black,
Then the disaster that came;
What could you do? It was too much to take;
And then we knew, nothing would be same.
When I think of you, my heart aches;
But with me will remain- The memories, the moments and your name...

Living your memories, cherishing your praise,
Now you're gone to a far off place,
And all I'm left with is the bitter emptiness;
But I stop my tears thinking you might be at a better place.

The pain you suffered, the wounds you gained;
Losing everything, not even the Hope remained.
What do I do now, with everything that we planned?
When I look up now, I don't see your helping hand;
And you're gone, I guess on my own, I'll have to stand.
I just wish somehow we could escape this unexpected end.

Living your memories, cherishing your praise,
Now you're gone to a far off place,
And all I'm left with is the bitter emptiness;
But I stop my tears thinking you might be at a better place.

I miss you, I remember you;
No one could have kept me away from you.
I'm so empty, incomplete without you.
But now I want to reach to you.
I Hope someday soon I'll be with you.
Till then I miss you, I remember you."

Rest in Peace, You're missed...

I Hope Someday Cancer will just be a Zodiac Sign

Image Courtesy- Hope Against Cancer, Hope for Cancer Research Charity, Leicestershire & Rutland's local Cancer Research Charity

Each year 4th of February is celebrated as "World Cancer Day" to increase the awareness about Cancer- Word's Deadliest Disease.

Each stanza in the poem describes the difficulties a Cancer patient faces. The first stanza describes the pain & hopelessness of diagnosis, the second describes treatment & its effects and the last one deals with defeating the Cancer and be Positive. The main message in chorus urges everyone to join hands and eradicate Cancer from the Planet If we all stand together, it's possible.

"When darkness falls onto your door;
Would you even see the light of another day? You're not sure.
Though great memories & caring people provide an armor,
But the Hope has gone, leaving days & nights of painful horror.
The Suffering grows each day, you think you don't want to Live anymore;
Because you think it's the end of your world, what's there to live for?

Though I don't feel your pain, the way you do;
But I'll do whatever it takes to help you make it through.
If we all Unite, Together it is Possible;
Because we Humans have always Triumphed over the Darkest maligns.
I Hope Someday Cancer will just be a Zodiac sign;
And till we see that day, we'll keep on trying.

When you feel like that Beast has taken your Beauty away,
And you think, if you go in the crowd, you'll lose your way.
Don't listen to people, let them say whatever they may;
Trust me, You're more Beautiful with your every new Birthday.
Each day the Sun will give new Hopes with its blazing rays;
And just take those medicines without any delay & soon everything will be okay.

Though I don't feel your pain, the way you do;
But I'll do whatever it takes to help you make it through.
If we all Unite, Together it is Possible;
Because we Humans have always Triumphed over the Darkest maligns.
I Hope someday Cancer will just be a Zodiac sign;
And till we see that day, we'll keep on trying.

Welcome! Here you come like a Soldier back from the War;
With that Victorious Smile & a few Proud Scars.
Now you're at Home & those Bitter memories are far,
And no more Hospital's Empty-Whiteness, everything's the way you like, your familiar.
My life would have been Shattered without you, you're its Strong pillar;
And now when Darkness comes in my life, you're always there like a Bright Guiding Star.

Though I don't feel your pain, the way you do;
But I'll do whatever it takes to Help you make it through.
If we all Unite, Together it is Possible;
We Humans have always Triumphed over the Darkest maligns.
I Hope someday Cancer will just be a Zodiac sign;
And till we see that day, we'll keep on trying, Keep on Trying, KEEP ON TRYING, TRYING, TRYING, AND TRYING!!!

Love - The Most Powerful Weapon in the World

A tyrant king, who dreamt of taking over and ruling over the whole world, was searching for someone who could guide him. He heard a lot about a wise man, popularly called as Man of Wisdom. He heard that Man of Wisdom knew everything and always helped others in their problems, so the king decided to pay Man of Wisdom a visit.
He said,
“I want to become the most powerful king in the World.  I want to own every piece of land in every corner of the world.  I want that everyone bows to me and the whole world knows my name.  I want that every coin, be it gold or silver or bronze, bears my mark and bears my name.” he stopped.

“Nice” said Man of Wisdom sarcastically and then asked, “Why do you come to me?”

“I want to defeat the neighboring empire. But the problem is that it is a very big kingdom.
It has a huge powerful army with all kinds of weapons. Their army is stronger than mine. But I hate that Empire and its king. I want to start my campaign of taking over the world with him, but I have no weapon strong enough to face him and my army is outnumbered.”
He paused then again said,
“So I want you to tell me about the most powerful weapon in the world. Something that has never even been built; that can move mountains, win over the world and thus can fulfill my dreams. Tell about some mighty weapon and how can I create it and use it against that king.”

Man of Wisdom looked and smiled at him; then he said “To become the mightiest person in the world that never was, you’d have to perform mightiest sacrifices that were never ever made. Do you have the willingness to do that?”
“I’ll do anything you want me to do. Tell me and it will be done.” The king said.

The boy, the mother and the cherry tree - A touching short story

The 6 year old boy was playing in the small garden in his house. The garden had a few small shrubs, plants and a few trees. There were many plants with beautiful flowers and a few with strange leaves. But out of all, the boy liked the cherry tree most.

Whenever the boy asked his father about the tree, he always replied, “Your mother planted the tree.”

But the boy had never seen his mother. He never knew how she looked as they didn’t have any photograph of her. He played in the garden with other children, most of who went to the same school as him. They always talked about their mothers loudly and that was when the boy felt silent.

He heard a lot of things about mothers from his friends from the school.
The boy didn’t know what motherly embrace is. He didn’t know how mother would have protected him from bad weather and would have snatched him away from difficulties. The boy never had sweet desserts and cakes his mother would have made. The boy missed his mother a lot and so he always stayed around the cherry tree. After all, his mother planted the tree…

The boy lay asleep below the cherry tree. It began to rain, but the boy stayed dry and harmless, because the small tree protected him. A few gentle drops falling from the leaves touched his face, he woke up slowly. It was getting dark, so he went back into the house. He switched on the light his room and looked through the window. The tree was completely pink due to the flowers blossoming on it. He imagined the tree as a woman, with pink hair and white clothes with silver lining. The boy began to cry, he never missed his mother so much and he again felt asleep.
Soon seasons passed. The blossoming flowers were now delicious cherries. Though his mother wasn’t there but his father often made cherry pie, muffins, cakes and crumbles. The boy loved them all. No matter what time or which meal, if he would eat something, it must contain cherries.
The boy would do most of the activities below the cherry tree. Playing, studying, eating and sleeping in the day. The cherry tree wasn’t just a tree for him anymore; it became a part of his life, a part of his every day to day activity.

The boy still missed his mother a lot but he now appreciated cherry tree more and more because he understood why his mother planted the tree. Though she left him, she was still with him, in the form of this beautiful cherry tree.

Top 10 Qualities of Mahatma Gandhi & why you need to learn them

Mahatma Gandhi was born on 2nd October, 1869. This day is also celebrated as the International day of Non-Violence in his honor. Mahatma is made up of two Hindi words Mahan- Aātma; meaning great soul. In this month let's remember this great soul.  When asked about what message he would like to give to the world, Gandhi said, “My life is my message” Here are 10 great strategies and virtues we should learn from the Great life of Mahatma Gandhi. All the quotes are by Mahatma Gandhi:

1. Faith in self-
 “In a gentle way, you can shake the world.”
Also,
“Men often become what they believe themselves to be. If I believe I cannot do something, it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe I can, then I acquire the ability to do it even if I didn't have it in the beginning.”
Mahatma Gandhi wasn’t a great orator, didn’t had a very attractive physique, lived a life of simplicity and avoided limelight as much as he could, but still he is regarded as one of the Greatest persons to have ever walked on earth. The reason is he always believed in himself. He believed that he has a great responsibility to free his country and he had complete faith in himself. He knew he’d a play a significant role in the freedom of India and so he did. His faith in himself triggered the faith of millions of Indians in him.
Remember-
“All of us have great abilities and great responsibilities. All of us play a very significant role in the flow of History. The reason we never realize is because we never believe we can have a worldwide impact.”

2. Resistance & Persistence-
“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you and then you win.”
